Harborside International Golf Center -Port, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Chicago, Illinois.
Harborside International Golf Center consists of two eighteen hole courses as well as The John Jacobs Golf Academy. The courses are The Port Course (opened in 1995) and The Starboard Course (opened in 1996. Both courses were designed by Richard P. Nugent.
Harborside International Golf Center started as a fourteen-year-old landfill that was "capped" with two feet of solid clay. Add two public courses to the 450-acre space, a clubhouse, a golf academy, a first-class practice facility, and the Chicago skyline and you end up with top rate golf. Both courses are links-style. There is water that comes into play and many very deep sand bunkers in keeping with the links tradition. Nine hole rates are available after 4 PM.
Stats on the two courses are almost idetical, yet most locals will say the Starboard course is the better of the two.
The Port course at the Harborside International Golf Center plays to a par-72 and 7,164 yards from the championship tees. The course rating is 75.1 and the slope rating is 136. The signature hole is #15 on the Port Course, a 216-yard, par 3, which is in the shape of an anchor.
TheStarboard course at the Harborside International Golf Center plays to a par-72 and 7,166 yards from the championship tees. The course rating is 75.2 and the slope rating is 137. The Starboard has two par 3 holes in which you hit over water.

I am from South Florida, a 2 handicap. I can't say that I've played a more challenging course than Harborside. (That includes Doral, Innisbrook Copperhead and TPC at Sawgrass) I played the Port Course on Friday & Saturday and the Starboard on Sunday. The wind was a factor on all days. If you can't work the ball both ways, stay off these courses.

Drove by this course many times and on a windy September afternoon stopped in to give it a try. WoW, what a track to play in the wind. Links style and one MUST know how to work the ball both directions to have a good round. Shot a 82 but worked hard with the wind and club slection on this links design. Will play again w/ discount rate but on a calm day.

Played this course last week and had a great time. Easy to get to from downtown Chicago. Course design is clever allowing options for various skill levels. I like the fact that it is a beutiful patch of green surrounded by industry and some pretty interesting views.

Day 74 - 100 days, 100 courses (Sunday, May 26, 2019)
I began this journey 74 days ago in the desert awed by the mountain views. At Harborside I found myself fascinated by the beautiful course surrounded by the industrial south side of Chicago. It was quite vexing.
I was joined by a member of TeeOff Nation and two members of the EZLINKS staff. With rain falling as we teed off I was pleasantly surprised by everyone’s good nature and straight drives.
A great round with 4 lost balls and a 94 on the card.
